MY PRIORITIES FOR BRYCHEINIOG TAWE NEDD
We know how tough the last few years have been on our communities. Between 14 years of Tory austerity, the pandemic, and the cost of living crisis, we know that - even where Welsh Government have done incredible work to protect against the worst consequences of the austerity regime - there is much we need to deliver to ensure a happy, healthy, prosperous Wales. We must take advantage of a Labour Government in Westminster, to ensure Wales, and Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd, get what we have been denied by consecutive Conservative governments. My priorities are rooted in this understanding - we are faced with huge challenges, and bigger opportunities. We must make the most of them.

Delivering the National Care Service.
We must re-commit to a National Care Service, to connect social care and healthcare, and end the suffering of those who have fallen through the cracks. Waiting lists are coming down at an exceptional pace, and the Welsh Government should be rightly praised for it. However, we know that without joined-up Health & Social Care, we risk losing people between phases of treatment and support, misidentifying their needs, and placing support services in the hands of a private sector we know can never deliver what's best for Wales. The next step in our plan to revitalise the NHS is to deliver the NCS.
Developing modern, affordable public transport
We live in one of the Senedd’s largest constituencies. As your MS, I will push for a modern and focussed approach to building the right transportation future for Wales. That means different things across different bits of Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd - whether that's local bus links in Swansea, more frequent services to stations along the Heart Of Wales Line, or a more coherent set of timetables that means you reach a train ten minutes before it leaves rather than ten minutes after. Our investment in infrastructure and our understanding of how people use transport go hand in hand - for ways of getting around that work for you, rather than a schedule you have to work around.
Giving Unions a permanent seat at the table, to stand up for workers.
Trade unions are the backbone of our party. We must continue the good work they do to ensure workers have a seat at the table when government looks to industry. The Social Partnership Act and the model it creates are major examples of how we are already delivering a system which works with Unions, not against, but ensuring that the interests of working people are protected is a challenge in an increasingly globalised, digital modern world.
Creating a comprehensive strategy to tackle the Cost of Living crisis.
We need a comprehensive strategy to deal with the cost of living crisis and revitalise Wales. Our next government must work to support people. Be it in food, housing, jobs, health, all are connected, and all play a role in building a stronger Wales. Real terms wages have been depressed, prices have skyrocketed, access to health and housing have become a struggle for many - much of what is in my other priorities goes some way to forming part of a strategy, but we need a cross-government commitment to working together.
Cleaning up our rivers and waterways.
Our rivers are in crisis. The level of sewage in our rivers is totally unacceptable, and a consistent threat both to those who enjoy a recreational swim, and those who rely on clean ground water for the health of livestock & crops. As your MS, I’ll take Welsh Water to task and push for infrastructure that makes sure our waterways are safe, clean and pollutant-free.
Investing in our High Streets, and putting money back into local peoples' pockets.
Whether it’s Port Talbot-area or Llandrindod Wells, our next Government needs to be laser-focused on investment in our high streets, businesses and local industry. We must work to uplift and invest in our communities to create well-paid jobs, boost co-operatives, and stabilise local economies.
